Everything is disclosed. The £1 million figure is the gross contribution target: £975,000 is assigned to published allocations and up to £25,000 is budgeted for payment processing. The project is not a registered charity.

WHY I STARTED THIS

This began with people I love. I didn’t want it to end there.

I’m a medical student, and this started with things I genuinely want to change in my own life and for the people closest to me.

I want to finish medical school without the same financial pressure and help my mum access the shoulder treatment she needs.

Those goals are personal, and I do not want to present them as anything else. But they account for only £75,000 of the full mission. I wanted the much larger share to support future doctors, patients, families and communities beyond my own.

Medicine has shown me how illness, disability, caring responsibilities, homelessness, abuse and lack of opportunity can shape a life. I kept coming back to one question: what could happen if a very large number of people each did something very small?

WHY I’M ANONYMOUS

A private identity should never mean a hidden project.

I want the idea to be judged on its purpose — not my appearance, popularity or personal connections. That makes clear evidence and honest communication even more important.

Why my identity stays private

The public story should stand on the idea itself. Payment and service providers can still complete the private identity and compliance checks they require.

What will be public

Verified gross contribution totals, the personal-versus-giving-back split, intended allocations and evidence of material transfers.

What I commit to

Personal goals will not be presented as charity, and material changes to the published plan will be explained before affected funds are redirected where reasonably possible.

Payment processing

A budget for the fees charged to process up to one million separate £1 contributions. Only actual fees will be deducted and publicly reported.

One mission, not two. There is no separate preliminary stage and no unallocated second half. The full £1 million gross target is planned from the beginning. Any unused part of the processing budget will remain within the published mission and its final use will be disclosed. Specific recipient organisations will be named before transfers are made where they have not already been selected.

One person can feel small. Together, small acts can become something extraordinary.

The highlighted piece represents one person. The larger mark represents what happens when enough individual contributions come together.

I’m keeping my identity private, but I don’t want the project itself to feel distant. The goals, numbers and evidence will be public so people can follow exactly where the journey goes.

There is no unallocated second half.

The experiment and the mission now share the same £1 million gross target.

£975,000 is assigned across the published personal and wider-purpose allocations.

Up to £25,000 is budgeted for payment-processing fees, subject to the final provider and the actual fees charged.

The tracker shows gross verified contributions. Actual processing charges, refunds and any changes to the published plan will be reported transparently.

My commitment: the £1 million target will not contain a hidden or undefined balance. If the final payment arrangement means the £25,000 processing budget is not workable, the figures will be revised publicly before the project launches.
